ABOUT THIS ARTWORK: THE HISTORIC VINOY
The Historic Vinoy by HH Photography of Florida. Here we are in beautiful, downtown St. Petersburg, Florida, looking across the lagoon and marina to the Renaissance Vinoy Resort and Golf Club in the distance. A sailboat rocks gently at anchorage in the waning afternoon sunlight. Originally built in 1925 by Aymer Vinoy Laughner as The Vinoy Park, the historic, Mediterranean Revival style hotel remained open until 1975 when it closed it’s doors. It remained closed until the early 1990’s when ownership changed hands and after a multi-million dollar, 2 year renovation, the hotel reopened as the Renaissance Vinoy Resort and Golf Club. It was added to the U.S. National Register of Historic Places on September 11, 1978.
